The Green Lotus is a Nepal Trekking Company which was founded in 1990 by Pasang Sherpa, Lhakpa Doma Sherpa, Jangbu Sherpa and Roger De Groen. Pasang Sherpa already from a young age was actively engaged in trekking/mountaineering and was a member for Constituent Assembly of Nepal. Beside he is also involved in various social welfare program in Nepal.
Lhakpa Doma was the first Nepalese woman to climb a seven thousand meter mountain and Jangbu Sherpa, in 1973 assisted Peter Matthiessen, two-time National Book Award-winning American novelist and nonfiction writer as well as an environmental activist and geologist, George Schaller, on a long trek to the remote Dolpo district of Nepal. The popular book “The Snow Leopard” by Peter Mathiessen is the account of that remarkable journey. And Roger De Groen is vice-president of the Belgium Nepal Friendship Association and has 20 years of experience in organizing group travels to Nepal and Tibet.
